Newly Appointed Deputy Director-General For HRM/P Leads First Productive Staff Meeting as CSA Head

The Civil Service Agency (CSA) under the leadership of the newly appointed Deputy Director-General (DDG) for Human Resource Management and Policy (HRM/P), Hon. Darlington A. P. Smith hosted his first general staff meeting on Friday, March 1, 2024.

During the gathering, key issues were addressed concerning the transitional period of the Agency’s hierarchy, along with talks on matters relative to the institution’s well-being.

In attendance and given the introductory remarks, the Principle Administrative Officer (PAO), Mr. Alfred Drosaye congratulated Hon. Smith on his appointment and publicly informed the attendees of the major activities conducted during his brief stint as Officer-in-Charge at the CSA.

Mr. Drosaye outlined steps which have to do with the putting on hold of the reduction of insurance schemes, consultancy contracts, the collaborative partnership between the CSA and the Ghana Civil Service Training Center, along with the process of getting rid of ghost names on the government payroll.

For his part, the Human Resource Director, Mr. Augustus Kamara called for the re-introduction of the Performance Management System (PMS) and hinted on the importance of the timely arrival of employees at their individual offices. Mr. Kamara further stated that the publication of the February attendance listing will be published on Monday, March 4, 2024, for which actions will be taken on delinquent staff.

The Deputy Director-General for Human Resource Management and Policy, Hon. Darlington A. P. Smith disclosed a plan to reintroduce the CSA governmental scholarship for civil service personnel, and assured the staff of his commitment to working for quality productivity.

Hon. Smith also called for unity among employees stating, “this is not the Unity Party and CDC kind of thing, elections are over, therefore we must unite as a team to make CSA more effective in the kind of work that we do.”

The meeting marks the first official gathering of Hon. Smith as head of the Agency, pending the senate hearing procedures of both Mr. Josiah Joekai and Mr. Dahnu Mianyen, who have both been nominated respectively for the positions of Director-General, Deputy Director-General for Administration and Finance.
