Montovia, Liberia – September 17, 2026: The Civil Service Agency (CSA) on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, participated in the official celebrations marking the 16th Anniversary of the passage of the Freedom of Information Act of 2010.
The program was held in the Charles Gbenyon Press Hall at the Ministry of Information, and brought together representatives from other government institutions, development partners and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
As part of the program, a one-day training for Public Information Officers (PIOs) and Internal Information Request Review Body (IIRRB) from Ministries, Agencies and Commissions (MACs) that have established FOI structures was conducted. The training was conducted by the Independent Information Commission (IIC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Center for Media Studies and Peace Building (CEMESP), Press Union of Liberia (PUL), Center for Transparency and Accountability (CENTAL) and Internews – Liberia.
The CSA was ably represented by Atty. Denise J. Suah, Director of the Legal Division, Madam Florida B. Cummings, Executive Secretary to the Director-General, Mr. Varflay Kamara, Director of Communications and Public Relations, and Mr. Joseph N.N. Swen, Director of Assets, Transport and Logistics.
At the program, the Civil Service Agency reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of the FOI Law that promote access, transparency, accountability and open government.
